Camden Head Delights
January 13, 2010 | Map
As I am not exactly living in Islington, I cannot claim that this is my local, but the Camden Head is definitely my most visited pub in the Angel area. Wait a minute: Angel? Why is it called Camden Head then?
The name derives from the Camden Passage, or Camden Walk, where this nice pub is located. It is an old gin house with a tradition that dates back over 100 years. The bar has an unusual insular position, allowing you to complete a full circle around it, much to the delight of a four-year-old at my first afternoon visit of this drinking hole. Tonight, though, the place was obviously children-free, so we could delight ourselves by sampling the quality beverages on offer: the Old Peculier made me very happy indeed.
